Electoral Representation Review 2011
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) conducted an electoral representation review of Moreland City Council in 2011. The review looked at:
- what is an appropriate number of councillors for the municipality
- whether the municipality should have wards or be unsubdivided, and
- if the municipality is to have wards, how many wards there should be, the names of the wards, the number of councillors per ward and the ward boundaries.
- Everyone in the City was invited to contribute to the review through written submissions. The VEC considered these submissions and looked at the demographics, the municipality's growth potential and the situation in similar municipalities.
The Minister for Local Government, the Hon. Jeanette Powell MP, has accepted the changes to the electoral structure of Moreland City Council as recommended by the VEC.
