Gowanbrae Community Centre

Inside the hall at the Gowanbrae Community and Children CentreThe community room is located inside the Gowanbrae Community and Children's Centre at 2A Marigold Crescent, Gowanbrae.

It is a double room with access to natural light and can be sectioned off with a sliding door. The room has access to a sheltered outdoor space and deck.

The room is co-located with the Child Care Centre, Kindergarten and Maternal and Child Health Service.

Hire the community room for your event

The community room can be used for events like:

  • community and social groups
  • dance, yoga or martial art classes
  • birthday celebrations, and  Kitchen at Gowanbrae Community and Children's Centre
  • hobby or theatre groups.

How to book the community room

Make a booking request online

  • Check if the room is available and make a tentative online booking request for your event.
  • Detailed step-by-step instructions will help you through the booking request process.
  • At the end of the process you are emailed a booking request number. 
  • Council contacts you to discuss your booking request.
  • Once Council accepts your booking request, download, complete and send in the Community Facilities Booking form (DOC 234Kb).
  • You pay a $200 security bond by cheque or money order, made out to 'Moreland City Council'.
  • Council confirms your booking in writing.
  • After your event is held and the hall is in the same condition, your security bond is returned in 4 to 6 weeks.

Book over the phone or by email
  • Call Council Bookings on 9240 2280 or email Council Bookings.
  • Council contacts you to discuss your booking request.
  • Download, complete and send in the Community Facilities Booking form (DOC 234Kb).
  • Pay a $200 security bond by cheque or money order, made out to 'Moreland City Council'.
  • Council confirms your booking in writing.
  • After your event is held and the Hall is in the same condition, your security bond is returned within 4 to 6 weeks.

Availability

You can hire the hall 365 days of the year, depending on availability.

The hall is available to book between 8 am and 10 pm.

Number of people

The community room at Gowanbrae Community and Children’s Centre can fit:

  • 60 people seated or theatre style
  • 100 people standing

 

The community hall has:

  • 50 chairs
  • 6 trestle style tables
  • heating and cooling
  • fully functioning kitchen includes an oven, stove top and fridge
  • toilets
  • disability access and toilet facilities, and
  • carpeted floor.

Hire rates

Hourly hire rate 

  • Regular use, community: $6.40
  • Casual use, community: $12.50
  • Commercial or private use $33

Prices effective until July 2012 inclusive of GST.  
Hourly rate applies for a minimum of 3 hours.
Penalty rate applies per hour or part thereof beyond agreed booking time stated on hire agreement.
$200 bond applies to all bookings.
$25 public liability Insurance.
Facility must be cleaned and vacated by 10 pm

Tram 59 to Airport West and shuttle bus into Gowanbrae.
