Your green waste bin and changes to green waste collection weeks
Council provides residents and businesses with a fortnightly green waste collection service to properties with a Council supplied green waste bin. Your green waste bin is collected on the same day as your garbage bin (check the waste map on page 1 of the calendar for your collection week).
Green waste contamination is a real problem. Items commonly found contaminating the green waste collection include plastic bags, green waste in plastic bags and general household garbage.
If you don’t have a green waste bin and would like one:
A one-off connection fee is payable for this service, as follows:

To request a green waste bin, contact Council or download an application form
from Council’s website.
The above fees apply to the 2011/12 financial year.
What goes in?
- loose branches (maximum length 30cm with diameter of 10cm)
- twigs
- lawn clippings
- weeds (soil must be removed), and
- leaves.
What stays out?
Stop!! Do not put these items in your green waste bin:
- food scraps
- green waste placed in plastic bags
- wire, cloth, materials, plastic or nylon ties
- soil
- tree roots or stumps
- recyclable materials, and
- garbage.
