The weighting game
Five years ago, Paul Haddad had just finished lunch on Sydney Road in Coburg and was walking the 100 metres to his car when he had to stop to catch his breath.
He looked up to find himself standing in front of an old set of scales. Having not weighed himself in a while, he stood on the large scales and watched as the needle eased into triple digits. He weighed 229 kilograms.
Fast forward five years and the scales are no longer his enemy.
Weighing in at a healthy 107 kilograms, Paul’s body fat percentage is an impressive 16 per cent and his lifestyle has drastically changed for the better.
‘I lost 122 kilograms in two years and have kept that weight off for the past three years through an active lifestyle and by taking part in activities that nourish my heart, mind, body and soul,’ Paul says.
‘I had to make an important choice five years ago – I could continue being the passenger, or start driving my life.
‘I chose to stop making excuses and start accepting responsibility. I had played the role of a victim for too long, it was time to take action.’
These days, Paul doesn’t watch things happen, he makes them happen.
He averages around seven workout sessions a week at Coburg Leisure Centre and maintains a healthy and positive lifestyle.
Paul is a model example that shows continued health and fitness is possible for everyone, they just need to take action and make it happen!
