oxYgen project moves forward
Media Statement from Tony Oulton, Manager Youth and Leisure
Wednesday 15 December 2010, Moreland City Council
Youth participation has and will continue to underpin the oxYgen project and the Youth Committee will be encouraged to get involved in as many aspects of the project as they can.
Following a request from the Youth Committee, Council officers are currently investigating the possibility of undertaking components of the site selection and partnership project in house. However we recognise the need for specialist assistance to complete key components that demand specialist knowledge and expertise. There is $25,000 allocated in the 2010-11 capital works budget to begin this work.
At the initial phase of the oxYgen Project, Collective Possibilities was engaged to undertake research and prepared the initial report for the oxYgen project. This work formed the bulk of the final report, more specifically, - Vol 1- Consultation Findings and Vol 3 - Youth Spaces, which included space audit, benchmarking, feasibility and concept options.
The remaining work was completed by Council officers and included further consultation undertaken by the Committee. This resulted in approximately $30,000 in savings.
Council eagerly awaits the next phase of the oxYgen project and hopes the committee is involved in every step as much as possible.
