Two cities will unite this week as Corum, Turkey and Moreland come together to bury a time capsule.
On Thursday 24 February 2011, Moreland City Council will welcome a group of delegates from Corum, Turkey, one of the oldest civilizations in the world.
Moreland City Council Mayor Cr Oscar Yildiz JP says Moreland’s relationship with Corum is important as the two communities share many significant ties.
‘It is believed that more people from Corum live in Moreland than anywhere else in the world, so it is fitting that we should come together to preserve and celebrate our history as well as our future.
‘The burial of a time capsule is also a wonderful way to pass along Moreland’s history to a new generation,’ said Cr Yildiz.
The time capsule will be filled with items which reflect and celebrate the diversity of the Moreland community.
The burial of the time capsule will take place between 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm at Coburg Lake, Coburg on Thursday 24 February 2011.
