Fawkner Blues Football Club
Media Release from Andrew Day, Director Social Development
Thursday 31 March 2011, Moreland City Council
At its last meeting Council resolved to give the Fawkner Blues Football Club and Fawkner Junior Soccer Club an opportunity to develop an agreement over the future use of CB Smith Reserve. This would allow both clubs to share CB Smith Reserve as co-tenants.
Mayor Cr Oscar Yildiz then chaired a special meeting on Thursday 10 March between the two clubs in an attempt to work though their ongoing dispute.
Unfortunately the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement and as a result Council determined the following arrangements for the 2011 season:
- Fawkner Blues FC (FBFC) have been allocated Hallam Reserve
- FBFC will play home matches at CB Smith Reserve
- FBFC will be allowed to train at CB Smith Reserve for three hours on a nominated day prior to a home match
- Fawkner Junior SC (FJSC) have been given full allocation of CB Smith Reserve
We wish both clubs all the best in the 2011 season and hope that they are able to produce positive results on and off the field.
