Fawkner Leisure’s new look

Moreland’s investment in providing healthy and active lifestyle opportunities for residents is paying off with a new and improved indoor facility in Fawkner.
“Council has invested over $250,000 to make the Fawkner Leisure Centre indoor aquatic area environmentally friendly and replace the roof.” Mayor Cr Oscar Yildiz said.
“This is another example of our commitment to creating an Active Moreland and giving people the chance to live healthy lives in state of the art facilities.”
Renovations included:
- Replacing the entire aquatic area roof structure, sheeting and insulation.
- A new sauna heating system was purchased and installed.
- Improvements to lighting through the installation of 16 solar tube skylights and 17 new energy efficient lights.
- Air handling and temperature control units have also been rectified and upgraded, providing a more comfortable environment.
- Works have also extended to the purchase and installation of solar blankets which includes innovative seating structures to house the blankets and
- Installation of solar hot water system for the change rooms and showers
- Finally a fresh new look, paint and colour scheme is also in the stages of being completed.
