Help name our new service

Our new service sport group soccer participation

Council is introducing a new service in Moreland to make it easy for more people to be more active, more often!

Getting involved in sport and physical activity is important for everyone. We meet new people, have fun and feel more connected to our community when we participate in sport or physical activity.

Sometimes though, we don't know where to get information or where to go for help to get involved. This is why Council is introducing this new service.

How you can win a 3 month membership

We need a great catchy name that will depict this new service being offered to the Moreland community. As an incentive, the best suggestion will win a 3 month membership at an Active Moreland Centre of their choice!

Entries must be sent to Active Moreland by Friday 10 February.

Details of this new service include:

  • Information on the web
The Active Moreland website will be used to help people find sport and physical activities. The activities will suit their needs, location, budget and other information.
  • Face to face
If people prefer to speak to someone face to face, our Active Moreland Centres at Brunswick, Coburg and Fawkner will help people to access information about the sport and physical activity options available in Moreland. People can go directly to an Active Moreland Centre or call to speak to a friendly staff member.
  • A little guidance
If people don't know what activity to try, a facilitator can help them, face to face, to work out what activities suit their needs best.
  • Help to prepare and meet the club
Sometimes, going to an activity alone for the first time can be a bit daunting, especially if you haven't tried the activity before. This new service will help people to prepare for getting involved and if needed, a facilitator can meet the person at the club or activity to introduce them to people.
  • Support until you feel confident
For those who may need extra time to feel comfortable and confident in the activity environment, a facilitator can support them to get to know the people at the activity, help to adapt or modify activities with the activity leader and help people to plan to participate in the activity.
