Location: Sydney Road shopping precinct and Victoria Street Mall, Coburg
Enjoy a vibrant and diverse program of roving performances in the Sydney Road shopping precinct 11.30 am – 12.30 pm, then weekday lunchtime sessions in Victoria Street Mall 12.45 pm – 1.30 pm.
Tuesday 14 June – Yalla!
11.30 am – 1.30 pm
Yalla brings the traditional music and dance of the Middle East to life with a unique East meets West flavour. A spicy mix of quarter tone accordion, ney (flute), violin and drums.
Wednesday 15 June – King Marong and Safara
11.30 am – 1.30 pm
Get set to enjoy the energetic live percussion stylings of King Marong and Safara. A versatile and dynamic performer King has built an international reputation as a master of many African drumming styles on instruments such as the Djembe, Doundoun and Sabar.
Thursday 16 June – ContrA
11.30 am – 1.30 pm
This duo presents classic rock covers and original rock/world instrumentals and vocal tunes with flavours of the Middle East and South Asia. ContrA is electric/double bass player Dhari Vij and vocalist, guitarist and percussionist Omar Pervaiz.
Friday 17 June – Kingston Jazz
11.30 am – 1.30 pm
Regular favourites to Coburg’s Sydney Road shopping precinct, Kingston Jazz perform their special mix of Dixieland jazz, classics from the 1940’s big band era and well known contemporary favourites.

Location: Victoria Street Mall, Coburg
This Friday come home to Coburg. Let Dinner on Wednesday’s instrumental sounds wash over you when Afro-Cuban chant merges into traditional Irish reels. Sip on a warm after work drink with friends; watch Carnivale’s Gift of Light lantern installation brighten the darkening night sky, and warm yourself dancing to the rhythm heavy, weathered pop-music sounds of Fat Gold Chain.

10.30 – 11 am Belly dancing workshop
Get your groove on with this free belly dance workshop presented by local studio Azura’s Oasis. Join skilled performer and teacher Azura and learn the secrets to mastering some basic belly dance moves.
11 am – 1.15 pm Recycled Costume Making & Parade with The Greatest Dancers Ever!
The Greatest Dancers Ever! fabulous physicalists, are delighted to be spending the day in Coburg with you creating crafty costumes out of other people’s junk. Create your wearable masterpiece and then hit the stage for the sprightly showcase.
11 am – 12.30 pm: Create your own unique costume using recycled materials. All materials provided free! Participants encouraged to bring along any old linen, sheets or fabric lying around at home
12.30 pm – 1 pm: Prepare to showcase your creation

Shine your light on the Solstice night: Lantern making workshop
Saturday 18 June
Join artist Anu Patel who will guide you to make a beautiful cut out lantern which will be waved en masse later in the day in a stunning display in Federation Square to celebrate the Solstice. They will hang on the magnificent people’s sacred space sculpture in the centre of the Square over the days that follow.The Light In Winter Solstice Celebration, a night of a 1000 lights is presented in partnership with Federation Square, Greater Dandenong and Hobsons Bay Council
