6. Consultation meetings
An Urban Planning Consultation Meeting is helpful in allowing people to talk about and explain their views about planning permit applications.
What happens at a consultation meeting?
A meeting allows the permit applicants to explain their proposal and to think about changes that might address some, if not all, of the concerns of objectors.
The planning permit applicant, any objectors to the permit application, Council's Urban Planning Officer working on the application and Ward Councillors also come to the meeting.
Everyone talks about issues with the proposal and thinks of possible solutions.
Time and place of consultation meetings
- Council sends an invitation letter to applicants and objectors giving details of the consultation meeting.
- Consultation meetings are normally held on a Monday night at Moreland Civic Centre.
- Meetings start at 6 pm or 7 pm.
- The letter inviting you to the meeting has an agenda and the Guidelines for Attendees (DOC 71Kb).
Do I have to come?
- A planning permit applicant or a representative that can speak on their behalf should attend.
- It is good idea for objectors to attend.
- You can tell the permit applicant your concerns and maybe find a solution.
- An objector does not have to attend.
