7. Urban Planning Committee Meetings
Council’s Urban Planning Committee deals with planning permit applications, traffic management, road closures and other issues. The Committee makes decisions on planning permit applications that are not decided by Council’s urban planners.
It is a formal committee of Council and is made up of seven of the eleven Councillors. The Committee meets monthly.
Who is invited to the Urban Planning Committee Meeting?
Anyone can come to an Urban Planning Committee Meeting. Council invites the applicant and any objectors to the Urban Planning Committee meeting where the application they are interested in is to be decided.
At the meeting, the applicant and the objectors can talk briefly, usually for up to 3 minutes, to the Committee. Then the Committee considers the planning permit application and makes a decision. The decision is announced at the meeting.
