30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity each day can improve your health and wellbeing, along with reducing the risk of developing certain conditions or diseases and give you the energy and relaxation to make the most of your day. The good news is that it is never too late to start being regularly active!
Coburg Leisure Centre offers a variety of land and water based group classes specifically designed for the needs of older adults. Classes run five days a week.Class descriptions
Active 50+
A low impact class to music designed to increase muscular endurance, strength, flexibility and fitness.
Strength and Stability
A land based class focused on stretching movements with the aim to increase flexibility, core strength, balance and stability.
Aqua 50+
A low impact water based class designed specifically to increase mobility, improve cardiovascular fitness with minimal stress on the joints.
Living Longer Living Stronger
A weight training program focusing on improving muscle strength, flexibility and balance. This program is COTA endorsed.
When you come to an Active 50+ class
- Bring a towel, a drink bottle and wear appropriate gym attire or comfortable swimwear.
- Class sizes are limited, so be early to avoid disappointment.
- You can pay a casual fee per class or become a member.
- You cannot enter a class five minutes after its start time.
- Check with your doctor before starting group fitness classes.
- Tell your instructor if you have any injuries or medical conditions before the class begins.
