Clean up Moreland campaign: CALD COM storyboard text and images
Cell 1
Your local council looks after the area you live in by keeping it clean and free of rubbish.
It provides services such as:
- garbage, recycling and green waste collection
- annual hard waste collection (once per year)
- street sweeping
Cell 2
We all need to work together to keep our community free of rubbish. Dumping rubbish and painting graffiti are against the law.
They make our public spaces look dirty and ugly. Piles of rubbish can also be a fire risk.
Cell 3
Dumped rubbish is a health risk. It attracts rats and mice, pollutes our rivers and harms our native animals and birds.
Cell 4
Dumped items may include unwanted household items such as furniture, whitegoods, mattresses, green waste, building materials, clothes and food waste.
There are other ways to get rid of rubbish - hire a skip or contact Council to find out about its hard waste collection service.
Cell 5
You can be fined ‘on the spot’ for dumping rubbish or painting graffiti. Fines start at over $100.
Cell 6
You can report illegal dumping of rubbish to your Council by:
- telephoning Council
- visiting Council in person, or
- looking at the Council website
