Your local Council looks after the area you live in by helping you keep it safe and clean which helps people stay healthy and happy.
Communities are made of people from many different cultures, age groups and interests.

Being part of the community means taking time to help each other.
Cell 3
Being a volunteer is a great way to be part of your local neighbourhood.
Cell 4
Being part of your community is a great way to make new friends and learn how things work in your new country.
Cell 5
Being involved gives you a chance to help your community and to improve people’s lives.
It can also help you gain confidence and develop new skills.

To find out how to get involved, contact your local Council or Neighbourhood House for advice.
Your Council can assist you to locate the Neighbourhood House in your area.

- telephoning Council
- visiting Council in person, or
- viewing the Council website.
