Social support
Council provides information, advice and events to older people and seniors groups in Moreland.
Recreational and social support programs encourage older people to remain fit, active and involved in social and recreational activities. The aim is to build links between older residents who may be socially isolated within the wider community.
Senior Citizens Centres
Activities are mainly organised through community groups and senior citizens centres.
There are nine senior citizens centres in Moreland that cater to diverse community groups and offer a range of activities.
Council also gives support and advice to a number of seniors groups that use non-Council facilities.
Activities for older residents
Activities include:
- Senior Citizens Week activities in October
- health promotion events
- Christmas in July functions, and
- a Senior Citizens Christmas Concert held annually.
