Advertising material
Report free advertising material (junk mail) not being properly distributed to the Distribution Standards Board.
Send a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Distribution Standards Board for a free No Advertising Material sticker or buy one from Australia Post.
Aerosol cans
Recycle aerosol cans. Remove plastic nozzle and put in your recycling bin and Council collects it weekly. Empty aerosol cans before putting them in the recycling bin.
Take aerosol cans that are not empty to a transfer station for recycling.
Aluminium cans and foil
Recycle aluminium cans and foil. Put them in your recycling bin and Council collects it weekly. Remove any food from aluminium foil before recycling.
Take other aluminium products to a scrap metal dealer.
Appliances
Small household appliances can be repaired or resold.
Asbestos
It is a health risk to transport and dispose of asbestos. It is illegal to put asbestos in the bin or as hard waste. Council suggests you use a professional to remove asbestos.
Avoid
To avoid waste:
- buy products with less packaging
- compost your food scraps and green waste
- buy products made from recycled materials
- buy second hand
- choose products that come in recyclable packaging
- take reusable bags when you go shopping
- buy products that save energy and water
- buy in bulk, and
- refill and reuse containers.
