Eating out isn't the same without a sign
Whether it's your favourite restaurant or the roadside late-night kebab food van, you can now check that what you eat comes from a registered food-handling premise.
Since April last year, all registered Moreland food operators get an annual registration label which they can display.
Food, public health and Council
All Moreland food businesses must be registered by Council under state food safety laws to ensure the food they cook and sell is safe to eat.
Council inspects food businesses, including mobile venues, to ensure all requirements and standards of The Food Act, 1984, are met before registering them and Environmental Health Officers also inspect registered premises regularly to make sure standards are maintained.
Council investigates complaints about food hygiene, foreign object contamination, suspected food poisoning and poor food handling.
