Abandoned vehicles

Abandoned vehicles are unsightly and can be unsafe.

If you see an abandoned car or trailer that has no number plates or an expired registration label, report it to Council. We may be able to remove it.

Council investigates reports of abandoned vehicles and determines what action needs to be taken. Council needs to find out if a vehicle is actually abandoned, or if it has been left unattended for a valid reason. If the vehicle is registered and you are concerned, please contact your local police station as it may be stolen.

Council keeps an abandoned vehicle for eight days. If the vehicle is not claimed, Council disposes of it.
