Parks in Moreland
Moreland has over 430 parks and reserves. There are large, quiet parks like Coburg Lake, smaller local parks, narrow reserves along our creeks and many areas for sport and recreation.
Almost all parks have playgrounds and some have barbecues and half basketball courts. In most parks, dogs must be on a leash. There are 51 off-leash dog parks where your dog can run free.
Major parks and wetlands
Jacana Retarding Basin, Glenroy
A wetlands site shared with many birds and wildlife. There are hills in the northwest of the basin and a huge timber trestle bridge built in 1924.
Moomba Park, Fawkner
Open grassy plains with long views to the city skyline and huge walls of basalt rock on a cliff.
Harmony Park, Gaffney Street, Coburg
Distinctive green areas including an ephemeral wetland, communal open spaces or 'village greens', barbecue, seating areas, a central avenue of shade trees and a specially constructed play space for children of all abilities.
Coburg Lake Reserve
A popular picnic spot along the Merri Creek and on the Merri Creek Trail. The park has a range of facilities and a contemplative garden that was sponsored by Melbourne City Mission's Palliative Care Program and built in 2003.
Bain Reserve, Merlynston
Merlynston is Moreland’s secret “village” and Bain Reserve is the “village green”. A lovely small park with a prize-winning boardwalk.
Randazzo Park, Brunswick
A one of a kind park in Moreland, and 2002 winner of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects Urban Park awards. It has lawn areas, an innovative children’s playground, a large timber boardwalk, wheelchair accessible picnic tables and timber sun lounges for reading the newspaper.

Moreland’s festival park with an amphitheatre, sportsground and an off-leash dog park.
