Coburg Districts Football Club purchase defibrillator

At their recent Sponsors Day, Coburg Districts Football Club spoke to their gathering of sponsors the importance of the club having access to a life saving defibrillator not only for players, officials, members and supporters, but for general use by the facility tenants and the wider community.

Over the past 3 years there have been a number of deaths due to sudden cardiac arrest at sporting venues/events and Coburg Districts FC committee is committed to ensure that their club and the wider community are protected. Having access to a defibrillator will provide an 85% survival chance to a person who may suffer a sudden cardiac arrest. A lot of people that play sport or the public in general may have a genetic disorder which is hidden and undetected and can bring about a sudden cardiac attack. The Coburg Districts club was saddened recently when one of their past club great and life members suffered a heart attack whilst playing football at Port Macquarie in Northern NSW.

Coburg Districts asked their sponsors for the support of the purchase and the response was unanimous.

The purchase of the defibrillator is a comprehensive package that includes face to face training in the use of an automatic defibrillator and CPR. For more information, contact St John’s Ambulance defibrillator hotline on 03 8588 8398.

Important Reminders!

An important reminder to all clubs that before any type of work can begin, a Building Alteration form must be completed and submitted to Council for approval. This reminder comes after what could have been a fatal accident at Oak Park Reserve. It is crucial that Council is notified of any works to Council buildings at all times. Please call Recreation Services on 9240 1111, to obtain a copy of the form.

Council also recently conducted Pavilion and Ground inspections where it was found that some clubs were using Lime to mark grounds. Marking of grounds with such products is not allowed and this may result in the forfeit of your facility bond. Please refer to the Sports Ground User Guide for further information or contact Recreation Services on 9240 1111.
